It is logical to start making timely preparations for making the wedding cards. This task shall be undertaken at least 6 months prior to the coming wedding. Wedding, being a special and a very grand event, requires extensive and minute planning of its each and every detail and as far as the Wedding Cards are concerned, in particular, making them requires a lot of planning.

designing wedding cards

This is so significant because much before the “D-day” i.e. the wedding, all the guests are formally contacted and informed about it through the wedding invitation only. The cards deliver all the required information of who, when, what and where and set the expectations of the guests for that special day. In a way, they set the first impression of the wedding, much before it actually takes place.  Moreover, if they are very impressive, the guests may remember the wedding through them and may even preserve them to take some tips while designing their own invitations in future.

Remember, it is important to choose them carefully

Even if the budget for your invitation cards is limited, they are several ways to make it happening. If properly and timely planned, the result ought to be good. Your thoughtfulness always reflects in all your pursuits and so will it reflect in your invitation. Right scale of formality and good choice of its design, paper, type and printing technique is quite important. If the wedding is grand, an elegant design is required while a casual design will serve the purpose equally well in case of a casual celebration. Using a good colour scheme that matches the theme of the wedding decoration will do wonders in the invitation just as it will do for the wedding itself.

Start looking as soon as possible, if you start timely, not only a thoughtful decision can be made, all the possibilities can be explored and everything can be done within the budget. Well begun is half done and deciding on the right invite will give you a lot of time to finalize the invitees list. This will also help spare you from the last minute hurry. Also timely printing and distribution of cards will help those living far from you to decide their itinerary properly. In addition to this, it will also give some room to people to integrate the wedding with that of a tour to any of the tourist places nearby.

Another advantage of deciding and getting cards printed timely is that there will not be the feeling that you have left someone from inviting as by that time even all the family members will know about the wedding. Those who could not get the invite will get a word of mouth information about the same and then you can send them an invite. Furthermore, a feeling of preparedness will be there as the invites and their distribution is one of the major tasks. Though this task is made simple by modern means of printing and distribution still finalization of the guest list takes time.

Among these events, Sangeet ceremony is the one that allows the younger generation to take the full control of the preparations. This ceremony is considered as one of the most exciting ceremonies because the focus from the family of bride and groom shifts towards their near and dear ones.

Due to the same reason, now days, people leave no stone unturned in making a sangeet ceremony, a gala affair. Some specifically mention the detailed program of Mahila Sangeet on the wedding cards. Apart from that, music, entertainment, live DJs and stage shows have begun playing an important role in wedding event and reception, as well. There are some essential ingredients for making the sangeet ceremony, wedding and reception events, more entertaining and more happening. Now let’s have a glance on the importance of all the ingredients, one by one:

Music: It is considered as the soul of the pre and post wedding and also the actual wedding ceremony. Choice of music can simply make or mar the event. Where at one side, selection of appropriate and good songs can create a pleasing ambiance, on other side; selection of inappropriate songs can cause a feeling of discomfort to elders and can ruin a good ambiance. Generally, it is wise to select exclusive songs based on wedding themes. Now days, people prefer to play instrumental music in the background during the dinner time so that the environment doesn’t get noisy.

Wedding Music

Entertainment: All these three ceremonies can be made more interesting by opting for unusual ways of entertaining the guests. For an example, a professional comedian may be hired who can keep up the exciting mood of the guests throughout the event. Before and after every performance, commentary may be added to keep monotony at bay and to enhance the enthusiasm of the performers. Professional singers or live band are fantastic way to make the events more entertaining.

Wedding DJ

Live DJ: Rising demand of professional DJ indicates that popularity of this trend is increasing by leaps and bounds. A professional DJ possesses a good sense of humor and knows the value of right timing. By hiring a DJ, one can bring uniqueness in all three most important ceremonies and when the option of song on request is being given to the guests, they feel more involved.

Dance or stage shows: Earlier, the preparations of sangeet ceremony was restricted to the near and dear ones and the family of the wedding host and due to the lack of professional touch, the event would look somewhat haphazard. The trend of hiring professional dance groups, individual dancers and stage show performers, for all the three events, is really in rage. Professional performances look more appealing, they are undoubtedly more entertaining and they appear more sophisticated.

Vedic Astrology also called as Jyotish Shastra in India is basically a science which studies motions and relative positions of planets, stars, sun and moon interpreted in terms of human behavior, their characteristics and activities. It helps an individual to develop a spiritual understanding, knowing oneself more deeply and on what timing, important actions of life are to be taken.

There are misconceptions related to Vedic Literature that it promotes fatalism. But it is not at all true; it does not predict our future but recognizes a person’s behavioral pattern and how their karmas affect them. Looking at an increasing divorce rate, many couples are worried about their marriage life. This is where the need to seek the help of Vedic Astrologer is felt. It not only helps to choose a right life partner but also in case of married couple, it helps them to have a better understanding of how a relationship works. Hindus prefer to consult an astrologer or a Pundit before the marriage and it is he who suggests all the things and bring forth the best date and time of the marriage as per the compatibility between the to-be bride and the to-be groom. It is on his suggestion that Hindu wedding cards are designed and printed specially if needed and it is he who suggests various prayers or remedies if there is some problem with the compatibility.

One’s marriage life, can be affected if their planets don’t favor them. Like it is believed that if a boy or a girl has a mangal dosh, then he/ she should only marry a person having a mangal dosh. There are also other planets whose wrong placement can create chaos in one’s life. Like the sun, the moon, rahu, ketu, Saturn and mars (mangala).

Consulting about the marriage compatibility from does not mean that if you work upon the advice of the astrologer, your marriage life will not have to go through tough situations or you will get a perfect life partner. But yes!! Your astrologer will give you certain mantra’s to recite or to perform rituals or he may also give you stones or gems to wear which will surely help you deal with unfavorable situations. Some also suggest certain mantra to be printed on the Hindu wedding cards for the marriage.

Again only mantras, rituals and gems won’t help; there should always be your hard work in making marriage a successful institution. It will teach you to be adjustable and have a positive approach towards your life partner. In case if any astrologer guarantees you that all your problems will come to an end only the methods they suggest, one should immediately change the astrologer and search for someone who gives you genuine advice. Vedic Astrologers are as ordinary as we are. It’s just that they have studied the Vedic science and can provide you with guidance. If any astrologer claims to possess some magical powers, then understand that he is a fraud.

The ancient Vedic techniques which were followed in the generation where kings ruled cannot be applied in this modern generation. In the same way, even the rules of marriage changes with the change in time. And what will printing certain mantras on the hindu wedding card will do. The stars and other planets are just energies, and an astrologer can only show you some methods to make your marriage fruitful. Just like how doctor can only diagnose the problem and give medicines and other ways of curing it. It is mainly our karma which decides our fortune. As rightly said, ” As you sow, so shall you reap.”

Wedding Cards

There are innumerable reasons, why Indian marriages are more appealing than other weddings. An Indian Wedding is full of customs, rituals and traditions which are followed by people blindly without even knowing them. Every custom or ritual has its own meaning. Right from wedding invitations to the Bidai ceremony, every custom, every tradition has a meaning of its own. These meanings are derived from our ancestors and the generation today is modifying these traditions according to their own convenience.

There is lot of spice in the customs of Indian wedding. Let us have a look at some of the customs. The first is the wedding invitations. The first wedding card is sent to the Gods and Goddesses summoning them to bless the couple. Mandap which is a decorated canopy supported by four pillars under which bride and groom are made to sit, to perform all the rituals in front of sacred fire. Mandap is decorated with bright and lively colors which signifies the radiance that marriage is going to bring in their life.

Mehendi: A day prior to the wedding, the bride and other female members of the family put heena on their hands, commonly called mehendi with different designs and patterns. The bride gets the best women to put mehandi on her palm, hands and legs and it is the best design of the mehandi that is put on her. The best part about this custom is both the bride and groom write their partner’s name in their hand in hidden manner. They are asked to search their respective names on their partner’s hand and whosoever searches it first is believed to be more dominating. It has been believed since the time the custom of mehndi originated that the darker the color of mehndi in one’s hand the more is the love for you in your partner’s heart.

The baraat is all about dancing as much as you can. In baraat, the dulha or the groom rides on a white lady horse and all the baraati’s i.e all the friends and relatives dance with full energy on the sound of the drum. T Milni, the English meaning of which means merger. Once the baraat reaches at the venue, the bride’s family greets the guests with garlands, flowers and gifts. Then similar way of greeting is done by the groom’s family. There is also a Shoe Hiding Game. When the bride and Groom sit for pheras, they both remove their footwear’s before sitting in the mandap. As per the tradition, the bride’s sisters or friends will hide the shoes of groom and when the pheras are over, groom has to fulfill the demands of them in return for shoes.

All these wedding traditions have a meaning of their own and all these invite participation of both the families and their relatives and friends. With the help of wedding invitation, the bride and the groom’s family invites their guests and thus the wedding becomes a tool of social bonding. Thus, the customs are not just customs but these have an in depth meaning as well.
